Why you should watch The Flash

Even though I love comics, during my life I've read mostly Disney and manga. It's not that I don't like superhero comics, but at least for Marvel and DC the commitment seemed too big. Decades of stories, parallel universes and timelines made impossible to catch-up, and I'm the kind of person who needs to know/read/watch everything. But now with Wikipedia and new cinematic universes that don't require even a little bit of reading, I can finally get through the adventures of the most widely known superheroes. And, of course, one of those is The Flash, which recently had it's first season on television.

Netflix's Daredevil - It's just awesome [#Review]

Even being a comic book nerd (ok, not THAT big), I've never read any Daredevil comics. Maybe because the entire Marvel universe seemed too big a commitment for me, and for a long time I neglected it's publications. But now I need to say that I'm really interested in getting into the Daredevil comics, thanks to the amazing show that Netflix recently released. As always, the hype for the launch of a new series got me eager to watch it, and I wasn't disappointed.

Books I Want to See as TV Shows [#Top5Wednesday]

It's Wednesday and today I'm answering a Top 5 Wednesday from the T5W GoodReads group. I don't know if I'l be posting all the lists, but I liked this one and decided to do it. As you'll notice, many of them are underrated books that many people just don't know about. They're awesome books and I think they would be great on screen.

Liebermann Papers, by Frank Tallis

A great mystery series that takes place in old Vienna. The protagonist is a doctor and also some kind of disciple of Freud. Filled with music, investigation focused on psychological analysis and an incredible setting, it would be amazing to see Max Liebermann in a TV series. Link

Perry Rhodan, by various authors

I just LOVE this book series. I'm not reading it now because I have them in Portuguese, and now I'm focusing on improving my English. But this is like the Doctor Who of sci-fi literature, because while Doctor Who is the longest running sci-fi TV show, Perry Rhodan is the longest running book series ever. Being published weekly since 1961 it now has more than 2800 editions, each one with 60 pages, give or take. And it doesn't show signs of stopping, so there'll be unlimited stories to be told on the small screen. Link

The Grimnoir Chronicles, by Larry Correia

I'm reading the first book in the series, and I've already posted my first impressions here. It'll probably be something like a mix of Agent Carter and Agents of Shield (?) I guess. Link

The Secret Life Of Laszlo, Count Dracula, by Roderick Anscombe

This book is SO GOOD and so underrated. A book about Dracula when he's still human, but developing his desire/fetish for blood. It would be amazing as a series, because this story needs a lot of screen time to happen properly. Link

Dragonriders of Pern, by Anne McCaffrey and Todd McCaffrey

This one will be difficult to have as a series. If you think that the Game of Thrones dragons are expensive, imagine a series where the main characters ride dragons, and the dragons are important characters as well. It'll be a freaking expensive TV series, but one can dream, right? Link

Penny Dreadful is back on screen in Fresh Hell

I really loved Penny Dreadful's first season as it was a really well made horror show without just showing blood, but instead presenting us with a story full of Gothic literature references, and a wonderful cast. Now, it's back to season 2 and I'm already addicted to it, anxiously awaiting for the next episode.

Eva Green is back as Vanessa Ives, and it seems that we'll learn more about her as well as Ethan Chandler, portrayed by Josh Hartnett. There are new villains, witches led by Evelyn Poole (Helen McCrory), an Elizabeth Bathory wannabe with a great power. Another welcome news is the new course of Brona Croft's storyline (Billie Piper), now that she'll seemingly be a part of Frankenstein's family.

Ethan: This is something I never thought I'd see.
Sembene: What?
Ethan: Here's a woman who faced down that creature in the theater without blinking. And held her ground against Satan himself, but now... I've never seen her frightened.

Timothy Dalton is undoubtedly the most Victorian thing on this series, and alongside Eva Green, make us want more and more screen time. They both got us sucked into the screen and make the show something really memorable. Of course all the cast is to be praised: all the actors did a good job, and the writing and direction are of course a big part of the show's amazingly good ratings.

What I want

What I'm really looking forward this season is:

• More and more Eva Green/Vanessa Ives, because she's awesome;
• More of Sembene's story. What the h**l is he after all?;
• A good plot for Caliban/Brona Croft/Lavinia. It can be interesting;
• Were-freaking-wolves and Witches in crazy-mad fights.
