The new Starfire comics is adorable and plain fun

Now that Convergence is finished, DC is publishing new titles, and I'm going to give some of them a try. That's mainly because there are characters that I was always interested but didn't want to try to catch up with a lot of back issues and continuity. So, one of the comics that I'll be reading (or at least trying) is Starfire!

I've never read or watched anything with Starfire, so I can't compare this new version of her with any cartoon or previous comic book versions. And no, I didn't read Convergence either. I'm getting a brand new start with DC Comics.

This comic can be read by anyone because it tells us what happens when Koriand'r (Starfire's birth name) arrives at Key West and wants a place to live. She doesn't know what the idioms mean and doesn't even know what money is, and how she can get it (as well as sarcasm). She is just lovely at how innocent and unaware of human habits she is. Before anyone says that she is portrayed as dumb, let me make it clear: she's an alien so OF COURSE there's (a great) chance that she doesn't know human habits and idioms.

The story is pure fun, and for what I can tell after reading the first 2 issues, it looks really promising. The artwork is GREAT, and I loved the way that they sometimes draw what Starfire is thinking when she hears something strange.

So, if you want a comic that is plain fun, with great artwork and that doesn't require that you know previous continuity and read back issues, you should give Starfire a chance, because you may end up loving it!
